plugging along

i thought we were getting the hang of this. we were happy, healthy, & plugging along & *gasp* leaving the house again!

& bam!
an unhappy triad (or terrible triad, O'Donoghue's triad or a "blown knee") is an injury to the knee.

This scenario causes an injury to three knee structures:

1. the anterior cruciate ligament
2. the medial collateral ligament (or "tibial collateral ligament")
3. the lateral meniscus (refined definition, originally it was the medial meniscus)

the mr.'s been walking on it for about a year, nursing it, then reinjuring the stupid thing. basketball a couple times, hiking, snowboarding, & finally skimboarding at the beach was the last straw.

so surgery happened & our life turned into our view from bed & i was harnessed with quite literally 3 babies to care for.
& now i will complain.

it was a tad ROUGH!! insanity of pinched nerves, pain pills, ER visits, ice runs for his ice machine, getting the 3 of them up to our second story apartment, getting the kids up & out of the house (because aust couldn't drive) for rides to & from physical therapy, dr appointments, & work, feeding them all, cleaning up after them all, & trying to stay sane.

poor cossette got in the habit of being an angel all day & then flipping out at about 10 o'clock at night. super great. not to mention a neglected toddler (considering she was my most capable housemate) which gave us some fun surprises with her newfound freedom.

ie. dumped sippy cups, dumped cheerios, dumped pasta noodles, dumped dry oatmeal, dumped powdered sugar, losing her only to find she had climbed into the storage room to read a book in quiet, consistently sesame street babysat, & iPhone entertained.

it's all calm & back to normal now. & i will be calling austin's mother if he is ever my patient again. i must really really really have it bad for that boy to not have murdered him this month.

even though i was overwhelmed more than once, overall it went pretty good.

well... we're alive anyway.

I'm so glad you survived. You totally deserve to do a lot of complaining. Your trip comes at a good time, right?!?! holy smokes. but i loved all the pictures. especially of ellers all powder sugared. And Cossette in that yellow onsie sleeping with her nice long legs all stretched out. So precious. And the one of ellery helping you clean your door. Actually loved them all. you are supermom/wife/woman.

Well done lady. I know it's not quite the same thing, but after we had Lucy and Tom started into having horrendous busy seasons and our schedule was crazy, I quickly learned that survival mode is O.KAY. and sometimes completely necessary. No harm done.

Have fun this week!!! Sometime we should do this will all of the ladies! (or couples)
